Kriat Shema fused the ancient voice of the shofar with a full orchestra, transforming ritual into a thrilling, modern symphonic experience. Every score and part crafted by ZSCORE.studio brought Shpilman’s daring vision to life on stage, where past and future collided in unforgettable sound.

World Premiere – Amir Shpilman: Kriat Shema

On March 22, 2025, the Berlin Philharmonie hosted the world premiere of Amir Shpilman’s Kriat Shema – Fantasy for Shofar and Orchestra. Performed by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra under conductor Igor Budinstein, the evening marked a rare collision of ancient ritual and contemporary symphonic sound.

The shofar, a raw and ancient voice, stood at the center of the work—its sound woven into complex orchestral textures. The premiere wasn’t just about a new piece: it was about hearing tradition collide with the future in one of the most iconic concert halls in Europe.

For us at ZSCORE.studio, it was a privilege to prepare the full score, conductor’s score, and performance materials for this debut—ensuring every detail translated seamlessly to the stage.

Dedicated to Bar Zemach and Yehezkel Tehory (RIP), the work represents Shpilman’s bold vision of bringing ritual into the concert hall. Learn more about Amir Shpilman’s projects on Cultopia.
